With economic data in full recovery, the Apulian aerospace industry once again chooses the Farnborough International Airshow to showcase the best of its production and know-how. how achieved. The 2024 edition of the Farnborough International Airshow , which has been held every two years since 1948, is scheduled to take place in the English city of the same name in Hampshire from today, Monday 22 July, to Friday 26.

An event that the Puglia Region has never missed in the last 20 years. It is in fact one of the main international aerospace shows, a showcase for the launch of not only cutting-edge solutions in the aeronautical and space sectors, but also an international stage for millionaire orders and contracts, which attracts business delegations from all over the world but also numerous Italian and foreign institutional delegations.

The Puglia Region – Section for the Promotion of Trade, Crafts and Internationalization of Enterprises – will be there with a delegation of companies accompanied by the Aerospace Technology District and an institutional one including the heads of the Economic Development department, of Puglia Airports, of the Polytechnic of Bari and representatives of the Regional Agency for Technology and Innovation Arts and of the in-house and financial company Puglia Sviluppo.

In the previous edition, on a surface of 100 thousand square meters, the Farnborough show welcomed 1,500 exhibitors and 80 thousand professional visitors from 112 countries in addition to having shown 87 aircraft on display or in flight. In the 2024 edition, in addition to the numerous national pavilions there will also be thematic exhibition areas, the Space Zone and the Flying & Static Display, respectively dedicated to the meeting point of the global space community and the exhibition of new-generation aircraft, both civil and military.

The delegation will be led by the Councilor for Economic Development of the Puglia Region, Alessandro Delli Noci. “We have chosen to participate in this event once again – he underlines – not only because the United Kingdom is Puglia's second partner for aerospace exports with a growth of 25.4% in 2023, but also for the global scope of a show that has the power to attract the best of innovations and world news in aerospace, a sector in which Puglia has started to grow again after the years of the crisis, achieving a performance that continues to increase by 6.6% in the first quarter of 2024. The Farnborough Airshow is the event that focuses on the future of the aerospace industry by involving the main international players. For Puglia companies it is a unique opportunity for visibility and promotion, for Puglia it is the occasion to enhance the know-how how achieved in the sector and attract investments in its territory”.

During the mission, Councilor Delli Noci will meet the institutional delegation of the Umbria Region, the top management of Leonardo (Tuesday 23 July) as well as the representatives of Avio Aero and other Italian and foreign Regions (Wednesday 24 July).

In addition to having a personalized station inside the institutional stand of the Puglia Region, the companies of the delegation will be able to participate in a busy program of meetings dedicated to the key themes of the Airshow (space, defense, sustainability, innovation, Advanced air mobility and skills) and will take part in the Business Connections Exchange initiative, the networking event organized by the Farnborough International Airshow that allows them to meet the main buyers in the sector in person.

Numerous visits to the Italian pavilion (where the Puglia stand is located), coordinated by the Federation of Italian Companies for Aerospace, Defense and Security ( Aiad ). On July 22 and 24, the stands will be visited by representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation ( Maeci ), the Senate and the Italian Embassy in London.

In particular, on Monday 22 July there will be, among others, the Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto , the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Edmondo Cirielli, the President of the 3rd Foreign Affairs and Defence Commission of the Senate Stefania Craxi and the Ambassador Inigo Lambertini; on Wednesday 24 July it will be the turn of the Director of the Armament Materials Authorisation Unit Giorgio Aliberti .
