Delli Noci: “Great opportunity for our design companies. Sector exports up 57% compared to 2019. Strengthen trade relations with the United Arab Emirates”

The excellence of Apulian design, in a stand inspired by the typical Italian square, shows its strengths at the most important trade fair for interior furnishings in the Middle East. This is Index, salondedicated to Interior & Design, scheduled in Dubai from 23 to 25 May 2023 in the Dubai World Trade Centre, simultaneously with three other specialized exhibitions: Workspace (Commercial Interior), The Hotel Show and The Leisure Show.

The Puglia Region, in collaboration with Puglia Sviluppo, will be there with a delegation of 10 companies in the sector to accompany them in their search for new opportunities for collaboration in an Exhibition thatfavors the meeting with buyers from the Middle East, and in a continuously and rapidly growing market for the construction of new buildings, which feed the demand for furniture, furnishing accessories and home textiles, as well as fixtures, lighting, kitchens and bathroom furniture. Visitors to the previous edition numbered more than 22,000 not only from the Gulf countries but also from India, Africa and Central Asia. If the appreciation of Italian products is added to this, the opportunities for the companies in the delegation are amplified.

“Our designers, supported by the commitment of manufacturing companies, are driving the market with their new proposals”.underlines the Councilor for Economic Development of the Puglia Region Alessandro Delli Noci.“Also for this reason, the Apulian wood-furniture sector is showing signs of vitality and growth trends never recorded in the last ten years: oover 478 million euros in turnover on foreign markets in 2022 with a growth of 57% compared to 2019,pre-crisis year. In this context, a leading role among Apulia's partners is represented by the United Arab Emirates, a vital and strategic market, protagonist of another record: it is precisely the UAE, in fact, the country to which total Apulian exports it grew more in 2022 than in 2021: +52%. Merit of a winning combination between a country in lively growth, the dynamism of Apulian companies, but also the role of the initiatives of the Puglia Region with its presence at the main UAE trade fairs and a varied catalog of subsidized instruments for companies, which has enhanced the their competitiveness in foreign markets. For the occasion, the Apulian exhibition space, designed by the Fabio Novembre design studio,it is inspired by the typical Italian square: high arches to mark the perimeter and a large central free space in a reinterpretation of the "village market" with the suggestion of the colors of Puglia. And here too, personalized spaces for companies which, in the open space of the "design in Puglia" itinerary, will be able to exhibit samples of their products and will have collective areas to meet foreign operators.In fact, the Puglia Region and Puglia Sviluppo are organizing b-to-b meetings in the regional stand with potential international partners identified by the ICE Agency, Dubai Office.

Also noteworthy is the “Design in Puglia” event on Wednesday 24 May, at 16.30, a Design Talk with the intervention of the designer Fabio Novembre. Other opportunities for the companies of the delegation will be offered by the fair, which offers an extensive calendar of events and conferences. A week after Index, the same companies took part in an orientation webinar on the UAE market held by sector experts, representatives of the ICE - Dubai Office, the Puglia Region and Puglia Sviluppo.
