Puglia's GDP will grow by 5% in 2022. It is the highest figure among the regions of Southern Italy and the 6th in Italy. It exceeds the national growth performance (+3.7%), that of the North-West (+3.1%), the North-East (+4.3%), the Center (+4.2%), the Central-North (+3.7%), and Southern Italy (+3.6%).

This is certified by Istat in the annual report on territorial economic accounts. In absolute terms, Puglia's GDP (calculated in chained values with the reference year 2015) grows by 3.659 billion euros, going from 72.609 billion in 2021 to 76.268 billion in 2022.

The disposable income of consumer families is growing and the growth rate in volume of expenditure for their final consumption goes from 3.8% in 2021 to 6.1% in 2022, aligning with the national average (+6.1% compared to 2021 ).

“These numbers – commented President Michele Emiliano – represent a satisfaction and confirm a constant growth which is allowing us to recover the GDP points eroded by the great global crises that have characterized our history from 2008 onwards. To this we add another recent data regarding employment. In the third quarter of 2023, employed people increased by 31 thousand units compared to the same quarter of 2022, increasing the employment rate from 49.6% to 51%. It is the result of common work that has created synergy between businesses and regional policies.”

“In the past planning we have exceeded 8.4 billion euros of investments with the facilitation tools for businesses managed by Puglia Sviluppo, achieving employment increases of over 41,600 units - highlighted the councilor for Economic Development Alessandro Delli Noci - . But in recent years we have developed a political vision rather than a management, one that has created an ecosystem made up of businesses, startups, banking and institutional investors but also of universities, polytechnics and research centers which today, thanks to an action coordinated and shared, they also attract investments from Italian and foreign multinationals".

“Yet all this is not a point of arrival but a starting point for the new challenges that await us. These results increase our responsibilities: we must maintain them and above all continue to improve them”, stated Emiliano and Delli Noci .
